Milk

Milk served to children must be pasteurized,unflavored fluid milk. (Not reconstituted, dry or canned milk)

Children two years and older must be served skim (fat-free) or 1% (low-fat) milk. Whole milk is required for children age one. 

Milk is required at Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper.

At lunch and supper, milk must be served as a beverage.

At breakfast milk can be served as a beverage or on cereal.

If a child cannot have milk due to an allergy or medical disability, or requires a milk substitute a diet statement must be on file.

  • Creditable non-dairy milk substitues that do not require a medical diet statement: Lactose Free milk and Unflavored Soy milk
